Critical thinking is the #1 way to get ahead.
But it's the hardest for you to learn. These 10 rules 'thinking about critical thinking' have been a weekly reminder for the last 5 years. 1. Don't raise your voice. Don't ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ everything you think. Most mistakes are made because the wrong answer is too easy. 3. Maybe you're the one who is ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ด? Don't fool yourself, you're the easiest one to fool. 4. Don't get carried away with charisma or authority. 5. Arrest your natural tendency, don't cherry pick. 6. Slow down. ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฎ or argument is rarely your best. 7. Always start with the How would you know it was a bad argument? What would it take you to convince you that you're wrong? What's right with the other argument? Does it hold up logically? 8. Without ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ, we're just trading ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐. An important part of critical thinking is to be able to weigh the evidence for competing claims thoroughly. 9. Be clear about ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐'๐ ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Think hard about what you don't know, what voices are missing, and about where your evidence runs out. 10. Certitude is no measure of certainty. Reading them good.
