You may have a particular leadership style that works best for you. However, the nature your leadership attitude should be in a way as I term it ‘beyond colour’ - transparent.
The message I want to drive home is that, as a leader you do not have to wear many masks and put on different facades to please people and amass your followers or be in the bandwagon of ‘orange is the new black.’ You need not re-invent the wheel, because in our Eastern philosophy it is said that if a man’s character and nature is ‘Vairagya’ i.e., transparent (colourless like water) then every possible dimension of life will pass through it, and when this happens it becomes the seat of holistic experience, knowledge accrual and building your conscious wisdom. As a leader if you are transparent, then you radiate honesty, values, compassion, commitment, influence, accountability, clear communication, sound judgement and empathy through the core of your character-grit. All this happens when you think, speak and act transparently. Admired leaders who leave legacy footprints, never look up (pander) to someone or look down upon anyone. They look at people and situations as they are. You don’t lead because you have to build followers. You don’t lead because you have to be famous. You lead because you need it in yourself, and that battle within yourself. Leadership is not about motivation, it is passion. If you want to drive that passion up to create that level of influence, sometimes you must be the odd cat. This skillful art comes from one attribute – YOUR ATTITUDE. Your mindset to see things transparently - as they are. Leadership is a way of life, an energy that has the potential to transform people to a different level of performance. Leaders need to keep in mind that their attitude is a product of their beliefs. So what attitude are you demonstrating as a leader to create a psychologically safe culture? #leadershipexcellence #leadershipmindset
